Certification Procedure
Certification activities by Notified Body

A manufacturer must fulfill the following list to strengthen the safety of transportable pressure equipment and ensure the freedom of movement of such equipment.

Duties of Manufacturer

A manufacturer must fulfill the following list to strengthen the safety of transportable pressure equipment and ensure the freedom of movement of such equipment.

  • Maintain the records of designs, manufacture, and other documentations in accordance with Directive 2008/68EC
  • Pi marking (when passing the conformity assessment)
  • Correction (when failing the conformity assessment)
  • Report detected risk of distributed products (report to competent national authority)
  • Record nonconformity and corrections made
  • Provide records and documents regarding conformity assessments upon request of competent authorities and/or operators
Harmonized Standard

The harmonized standards recommended by Directive 2010/35/EU and Directive 2008/68/EC for the TPED certification are as follows. Manufacturers must select an appropriate standard within the harmonized standards considering the specifications and dangerous substances their products shall convey.

  • ADR (International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road)
  • RID (International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail)
  • ADN (International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways)

Required documents for TPED Certification
  • Technical Construction File
    1) design drawing, design calculations, steel details and heat treatment, cast analysis certificates for materials
    2) Calibration certificate for instruments used in inspection
  • Detailed harmonized standard, Manufacturer’s procedure and ITP (Inspection & Test Plan)
